My name is Jeroen Piket. I was born in Leiden and have been married for 25 years. We have two sons, who are in their early twenties.

Strategic thinking is second nature to me, it was my entire life as a chess grandmaster and as a family officer. As a former top player, I understand the drive to win and to make the most from one’s career.

Growing up in a chess family, I have been developing this talent since I was 7 years old. By winning six consecutive Dutch youth championships, it was only natural for me to choose a professional chess career.

As chess grandmaster, I came close to belonging to the world’s best, played in many international elite tournaments and won a few. I have also beaten world champions in individual games, including Kasparov, both in Amsterdam in 1995 and during the 2000 Internet Grand Prix finals. I have won four national titles and represented the Netherlands during the European Championships, World Championships and Olympiads, where I won medals both individually and with the team.

In 2002, I was approached by a Dutch chess sponsor and his family to manage their family office in Monaco. I did this from 2003 to 2018. For this position, I retrained in 2002 and attended seminars both privately and at banks and trusts.

In Monaco, I represented several generations, both as confidential advisor and as point of contact, and managed the family’s asset affairs in close cooperation with international advisors.

Due to my 15 years’ experience as manager of a single-family office, my (international) network and the numerous national and international seminars I have attended relating to family offices best practices, I am very familiar with this world.
